Danny Waine has the travel and tourism industry in his blood.
Keen to join the industry but unsure which path to pursue, a love of geography and languages led to a degree in travel and tourism management; which set up a more than 20 year career in and around the travel and tourism sector.
During his time in the travel and tourism industry, Danny co-founded Perfect Weddings Abroad, the UK's leading overseas wedding specialist; which celebrates its 20th birthday in 2025.
With a passion for inspiring the next generation of travel industry professionals, Danny co-founded the massively successful 'Future You' careers in travel and tourism initiative, currently marking its 15th anniversary.
Whilst working in the travel and tourism industry, Danny recently left his role as Head of Membership at ABTA - The Travel Association. Having joined in 2020, to support travel businesses struggling through the Covid-19 pandemic and its subsequent recovery.
Before that, Danny was Commercial Sales Manager - UK & Ireland at Interhome, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hotelplan Group.
Additionally, Danny has worked within sales-related roles at a number of travel agency and tour operator businesses.
Up for a challenge, Danny spent a number of years outside of the travel and tourism space, heading up the international student recruitment and commercial sales at Istituto Marangoni London, part of the international Galileo Global Education group.
He has been a non-exec advisor to a number of other companies, including start-up Talent Courtyard, a wellbeing social enterprise that successfully crowdfunded to support its plans.
Danny is currently Vice Chair of the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT), after joining the board for the first time as the ITT's youngest ever Board Director in 2012, as well as sitting on the ITT's Education and Training Committee for over 14 years.
In March 2023, Danny joined the Teesside Airport Foundation, a start-up charity; which exists to support people in the Tees Valley to achieve their ambitions in education and employment and to assist in the regeneration of the area.
Over the years, Danny has presented in person and virtually at many travel industry events, both in the UK and overseas.
Speaking on topics related to the UK package travel industry, to tourism, membership, education and inspiring the next generation with career successes, highs and lows.
Danny acts as a speaker and moderator at relevant events.
Since co-founding the ITT Future You initiative back in 2009, Danny has spoken at colleges and universities across the UK, taken part in career fairs, delivered online presentations; mentored, supported and developed numerous individuals now working in and around the travel and tourism sector.
As Future You has grown, its annual conference has developed into an 'On The Road' format across the UK, global events and an annual awards ceremony.
On a daily basis, Danny has been a proud supporter of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, both in the workplace and wider industry.
From launching the Rising Star and Trailblazer awards at the ITT Future You Awards, to winning the Male Ambassador Award at the 2021 Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) awards.
